The Smart Manufacturing Technology Expo (SmartMTX) is back for 2024! Even though the inaugural SmartMTX was only held in the Spring of 2023, the show has quickly grown to be recognised as the premier manufacturing show in Western Canada. The SmartMTX is the number one place for manufacturers to identify and explore advanced solutions across automation, robotics, Additive Manufacturing, digital tools, and learn about productivity enhancing manufacturing best practices.
The 2024 show will be held May 15th and 16th in Red Deer, Alberta and feature twenty plus hours of educational sessions, keynotes, discussion panels, and technology showcases across two stages and nearly 40,000 square feet of exhibition space. There will be opportunity to learn about the latest applications in Additive Manufacturing as part of the Additive Manufacturing Conference and explore manufacturing best practices as part of the Process Improvement Conference.
The SmartMTX also supports building a collaborative manufacturing ecosystem across Western Canada where manufacturers can network with like minded peers and identify local resources such as research institutes, government programs, and agencies that provide services and funding to support economic growth and innovation. The Industry Networking Reception on Day One will provide a less formal atmosphere to network and discuss everything manufacturing over live entertainment and food.
For 2024, the SmartMTX features three themes identified by Western Canadian manufacturers as their top priorities with smart technology as the common thread that enables solutions and ties the themes together. The three themes are:
- Overcoming the Labour Shortage
- Diversifying Manufacturing
- Sustainability in Manufacturing
Each theme will feature keynote speakers, discussion panels, and special events across the show’s two days to help manufacturers identify solutions, develop strategies, and connect with resources to help them overcome challenges and spur growth.
The afternoon of day two will focus on creating understanding around inspiring the next generation of manufacturing workers and include activities for students to showcase their talent and connect with future employers.
