Elliot has worked in a variety of sectors including tourism, retail sales, social work and even started his own company prior to joining the Government of Canada in 2000. Starting with Human Resources and Skills Development Canada (now Service Canada), Elliot began his public service career working to set up contracts to match employers and students in the Summer Career Placements Program for the Calgary Region. He later joined Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada’s Rural and Co-operatives Secretariat and spent 8 years as the Regional Manager responsible for promoting the federal government’s role in economic development in rural communities across the west. He joined Western Economic Diversification(now PrairiesCan) in 2013 and has been working to support Alberta SMEs involvement in the defence sector since then.
